Custom Lawn Programs

The Family Tree and Turf Care ® Custom Programs are developed to provide substantial nutrients and protection to most high end lawns with ample sunlight and irrigation and provide service for those extra problems. Maintaining a green, healthy lawn is an ongoing and time-consuming process. It's important that the right products are used at the right time and in the right amount to control weeds and pests so the grass has room to grow.

We will evaluate your lawn and prescribe only what is needed for your lawn and circumstances. Our approach calls for a very selective use of products to fit your individual lawncare needs. Family Tree and Turf Care ® understands that problems may occur prior to or after a scheduled service, therefore we provide service callbacks for Full Custom Lawn Program Customers to handle problems that happen in between services.

Lawn Care Programs will include customized fertilization, weed and insect control programs, core aeration, seeding and more. We will use granular products as welll as liquid products when appropriate. Rather than making "blanket" applications, we always strive to use products only when needed and at the rates necessary to achieve the results you desire.

6 Step Custom Program
Step 1: This application starts the year with a fertilizer containing pre-emergent crabgrass control. Crabgrass control is applied at the highest rate possible and the product is the highest quality product available.

Step 2: As the weather warms-up, broadleaf weeds begin to germinate and grow in the lawn. Once this process has started, we shift our attention to their control. The biggest thing that sets our broadleaf weed control applications apart from our competition is that we blend different herbicides together in order to get better control of a wider variety of weeds including dandelion, chickweed, and white clover. Special emphasis is placed on treating the borders of the lawn where such weeds are more prevalent.

Step 3: Surface insects such as Sod Webworm, Cinch bug and Billbug invade the landscape at this time of year and damage lawns by eating the leaf blade. Therefore, this application includes a insecticide to combat these surface feeding insects. Broadleaf weed control and early summer fertilization is also included at this time. We also include iron in this and other applications. A valuable micronutrient, iron is added to strengthen the root system and permit the plant to hold leaf color longer.

Step 4: The latter half of summer is generally one of the most stressful periods for any growing plant. Central New Jersey ihas been producing a wide variance of heat and humidity. During this period we concentrate our efforts on providing the lawns root system with a very slow release fertilization designed to sustain it during what often are radically changing growing conditions.

Step 5: This is the season of the year when all growing plants go through their last sustained growth period. It is an excellent time to control hot weather weeds that may have germinated over the summer and to slowly begin preparing the lawn for colder weather. Our blend of slow release fertilizers and weed control herbicides are specifically designed to take advantage of such growing conditions.

Step 6: As lawns slow their upward growth and lose color; the plant continues to grow downward for an extended period. During this time, a high rate of Nitrogen is applied that will almost all go towards enhancing the root development of the plant, provide it with food reserves for winter, and promote earlier green-up next spring.

*All steps are adjusted for weather conditions.

This program includes grub control and lime. Service calls are also included in this program
